Frequently Asked Question

The definition of « time zero » that will be yousful for the check of some asked parameters (eg lactates, NSE, blood test) and exams (eg EEG): could you confirm when it should be accounted for ?

Time zero is upon admission to ICU in the inhospital eCRF

If the patient has reached 33° at the emergencies or out of hospital, the time zero to calculate the 24 hours of hypothermia starts when the patient has reached 33° or when he is admitted at the ICU?

The 24 hours of hypothermia starts when the patient reaches CORE temperature of 33 ± 0,5°

In the intervention group, once the time of hypothermia at 33°  during 24 hours, we are to rewarm the patient to 36,5° and avoid fever. Do we have to control the temperature during 72 hours or during 48 hours after the end of the 24 hours of hypothermia?

The fever control is to be maintained for 72 hours in total after the cardiac arrest, or more pragmatic after ICU admission. For the cooling group this means for another 34 hours (=33° for 24 hours, rewarm for 0,25°/hour for 14 hours until 36,5 = 38 hours. 72 hours – 38 hours = 34 hours) after the patient has been rewarmed.
